Welcome to Sacred Heart

Parish Primary School, Broken Hill

“A School with a Difference”

Acknowledgement of Country – We would like to acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional lands of the Aboriginal people and their many custodians. We pay our respects to both present and past elders and the continuing custodians of these lands. May we listen with great care to the heartbeat of Aboriginal lands and to its people who have cared for it so well and for so long.

Sacred Heart Parish Primary School is a co-educational school for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in the Wilcannia-Forbes Diocese.

The School takes its direction from the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the seat of wisdom, discernment, and knowledge.

While Sacred Heart is staffed by lay teachers, the spirit of both the Mercy sisters and Marist Brothers continues. Their mission and rich heritage of education, prayer and work and their emphasis on the provision of Catholic education is central to and reflected in the curriculum and the community life of the school.

Sacred Heart Parish Primary School is a caring environment where each person is valued and experiences a sense of belonging, where faith in God is nurtured and a well-balanced curriculum is provided. Prayer and Liturgical celebrations are an integral part of school life.

Our Motto is “Faith, Truth, and Love”

Students undertake the NAPLAN Test and participate in a range of University of NSW Competitions.

Students also have the opportunity to be involved in many community activities including Eisteddfods, Choral Festival, and other community sponsored projects.

Students have the opportunity to participate in School and PSSA local carnivals, as well as Diocesan, Inter-Diocesan and State Carnivals.

They also participate in weekly PSSA sport. Coaching clinics in various sports are accessed from visiting accredited coaches.

Broken Hill is a mining town that is moving away from its dependence on mining and is developing its tourism and service industries.

It is situated in the Far West of New South Wales and has a population of 20,000.

Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Sacred Heart Parish Primary School.

Sacred Heart is a school of 111 students supported by the Sacred Heart Parish and the community of Broken Hill.  The school is part of the Catholic Education System administered by the Wilcannia-Forbes Diocese. Sacred Heart is co-educational, with classes from Kindergarten to Year Six.

Within our school, we encourage the pursuit of personal achievement and spiritual growth.

Parent literacy and numeracy workshops are held throughout the year to support all the partners in each child’s learning.

Parents are always welcome to our school and are encouraged to attend our scheduled events.

Parents are informed via the school website, Skoolbag app, weekly newsletters and the school Facebook page of any important dates.

We seek to support every student at our school academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally.

We look forward to seeing you!
