Saint Joseph’s Parish Primary School

Welcome to St Joseph's Parish School Nyngan

Our School

We would like to acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional lands of the Aboriginal people and their many custodians. We pay our respects to both present and past elders and the continuing custodians of these land. May we listen with great care to the heartbeat of Aboriginal lands and to its people who have cared for it so well and for so long.

St Joseph’s Parish School, Nyngan, was established in 1884 by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart for the Catholic education of children in the area. After 121 years of dedication to the children of Nyngan, the Sisters of St Joseph withdrew from the school at the end of 2005.

St Joseph’s Parish School is the educational ministry of St Patrick’s Parish, Nyngan. There is a strong link between parish and school and we work closely with Father Paul Clark, our parish priest, to ensure a strong partnership is maintained.

Principal's message

I warmly welcome you to St Joseph’s Parish School’s website.

St Joseph’s is a co-educational systemic primary school located in Nyngan, a small country town in Western NSW. We are one of eighteen schools in the Wilcannia-Forbes Diocese. At present we have an enrolment of approximately 118 students.

At St Joseph’s we strive to provide a quality, inclusive Catholic education for the students in our care. Our professional and dedicated staff work together with enthusiasm and commitment to ensure the best possible outcomes for each child.

All children are encouraged to work diligently in order to achieve their personal best, whether it be in the classroom, on the sporting field or through the many other opportunities provided for their personal and spiritual growth and development.

As a staff, we realise that we are all continually learning. What a privilege it is to be part of a profession that inspires the children in our care to be lifelong learners. We endeavour to educate our students so that they can actively contribute as members of society now and in the future. We constantly strive to use the best possible pedagogical practices and resources available to us as educators in the 21st Century.

We also acknowledge that we share the responsibility of education with parents. Learning is a partnership and we sincerely welcome your participation and support.

We hope to keep you regularly updated via this site as well as our Skoolbag App, weekly newsletters and the school’s Facebook page.

With kind regards,
