Saint Joseph’s Parish Primary School

Welcome to St Joseph's Parish School Peak Hill

Our School

We would like to acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional lands of the Aboriginal people and their many custodians. We pay our respects to both present and past elders and the continuing custodians of these land. May we listen with great care to the heartbeat of Aboriginal lands and to its people who have cared for it so well and for so long.

St Joseph’s Parish School was established by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1895.

St Joseph’s is a co-educational kindergarten to year six school which is part of the Catholic Education System run by the Diocese of Wilcannia-Forbes.

St Joseph’s is a school that integrates Gospel values into all aspects of school and community life, and which has a particular emphasis on individual development. The enrolment in 2017 is 20 students.

Our Patron is Saint Joseph. Our school motto is “In Mary We Trust”. Our school strives to be a community that is inspired by the example of Mary to live by Christian values. Liturgical celebrations including Sacraments, while being school-based, also involve the parish community.

As well as NAPLAN and University of NSW Schools Competitions students have the opportunity to be involved in many community activities which include the ANZAC ceremony, the CWA Public Speaking Competition, the local show and any projects offered to students from external organisations.

All students are encouraged to and have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and compete in Diocesan, Inter-diocesan and State Carnivals. It is the aim of St Joseph’s to give every pupil the opportunity to fulfil his/her potential to the fullest in every respect.

There are programs operating for remedial literacy and students with special needs. St Joseph’s is a school supported by the parish and Catholic community of Peak Hill.

Principal's welcome message

St Joseph’s, Peak Hill has been built on the strong tradition and faith of the Sisters of St Joseph who established the school in 1895. As a staff, we take great pride in continuing to be inspired by the work of Mary and put our trust in her to guide us in our vocation as teachers at Saint Joseph’s School and in the wider community to promote the school motto “In Mary We Trust”.

Through our pastoral care policy and procedures, we ensure that our Catholic school community is a place where children are respected, treated as unique individuals and valued. All students deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring, safe and motivating school environment.

St Joseph’s is a small school with flexible learning spaces in the classrooms to cater for different needs and learning styles. Working in a small school provides all staff with the ability to really know all the students and use data to develop personalised learning goals and plans.

The staff pride ourselves on working in partnership with parents to achieve the best possible outcomes for your children. There is a strong sense of commitment and partnership with the wider Peak Hill community.

I welcome you to contact me for any further questions and set up a meeting to discuss how we can meet the needs of your child.

It takes a big heart to shape little minds,

Regina Goodridge

Principal
